About the Team

At the NYC Department of Buildings, we are responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code and Zoning Resolution. We facilitate compliant development with integrity, efficiency, and professionalism. The Boilers unit performs inspections of the condition, design, operation, and installation of boilers, fuel oil storage, and other pressure vessels and related equipment.


Position Responsibilities

Under the direction and supervision of the Director, Boilers, the intern will:

- Perform technical research and communicate with boiler manufacturers

- Analyze schematics, drawings, and details

- Research codes


Major/ Field of Study

Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in:

~ Mechanical Engineering; or

~ Mechanical Engineering Technology

Qualifications

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.
