Technical Accounting Manager

Reporting directly to the VP and Controller, the Technical Accounting Manager will be responsible for technical accounting research and assessments with an emphasis on revenue recognition and equity accounting. He or she will be a member of a growing, high-performing team and expected to help with the implementation of financial processes and procedures enterprise-wide. The ideal candidate will have seven or more years of accounting experience, strong communication skills and superb attention to detail.

Location

The preference is to have this role based in Boston with a hybrid work arrangement, but will consider fully remote for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical accounting memos for internal files as well as for external audit
• Analyze new material contracts with customers for determination of appropriate application of ASC 606 and company policy
• Prepare stock based compensation calculations on a quarterly basis
• Research new U.S. GAAP standards and develop and document Company policies and elections.
• Scope the impact of new U.S. GAAP standards on the entire organization, including relevant historical transactions and investment structures
• Document and communicate proposed changes to Company's auditors
• Assist on special projects as needed as directed.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field;
• Minimum of seven years of accounting experience with external audit and/or public company experience preferred;
• Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP financial statements
• Advanced understanding of ASC 606 strongly preferred;
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with non-accountants
• Demonstrated ability to perform technical accounting research, write effective position papers and communicate appropriate accounting treatment
• Experience with the use of ERP systems, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience preferred;
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and skilled in accounting and ERP systems;
• Superb attention to detail;
• Can function independently and effectively in a self-directed environment;
• Resilient team player who can juggle multiple priorities and competing deadlines, and;
• Hard-working, motivated and reliable with a desire to learn and succeed in a demanding role.
