Preferred Qualifications:
The candidate should have:
● Background in cell/molecular biology.
● Experience with mouse models.

Position Summary:
The successful individual will be appointed as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine. The overall research goal of the laboratory is to study mechanisms involved in the development and progression of kidney disease. The laboratory of Dr. Sandeep Mallipattu in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University School of Medicine is seeking highly motivated candidates for postdoctoral fellow related to chronic kidney disease. Our research program focuses on identifying mechanisms involved in the progression of chronic kidney disease. Specifically, we investigate the mechanisms that regulate proliferation, differentiation, and regeneration in the kidney, with a focus on various disease processes (Diabetic Nephropathy, Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, acute kidney injury transition to renal fibrosis); as well as high-throughput screening strategies to identify small molecular compounds that might serve as novel therapeutic agents in disease using cell culture, kidney organoid, and mouse models.
Successful applicants may select from multiple projects and should have experience in most of the following areas:
● Conducting experiments using cell culture and mouse models in kidney disease;
● Data analysis and manuscript preparation, including producing figures for manuscripts;
● Laboratory maintenance, including keeping a detailed laboratory notebook, and managing students.
