About the Role

Work with the Sea Otter team to build best in class Workforce Scheduling.

The Workday Workforce Management's Sea Otter team is a fully cross functional team of highly skilled individuals collaborating to design and develop innovative and intelligent solutions to the industries' most complex problems, improving the way the world's workforce works!  We believe that powerful AI/ML combined with the best mobile experiences, immersive UIs, secure backend services and engineering excellence provide the most compelling solution to the market.

This is a unique opportunity to build from the ground up with technical ownership of all stages.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tackle sophisticated problems, which comes with developing and delivering global critical enterprise software using your expertise in design, coding, algorithms, and complexity analysis. Your primary focus will be to:

  • Work on the full stack ML lifecycle from ideation to product delivery, including model development, algorithm research, hypothesis generation, data exploration, feature engineering, and results communication
  • Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify overall software improvements
  • Take initiative, exhibit creative thinking, have the determination to turn data into real-life insights
  • Tackle problems related to performance, scalability, and resilience
  • Design and develop a product in a development environment where decisions are based on data
  • Write and maintain robust, efficient, and testable code using design patterns, object orientation, and machine learning frameworks
  • Work together with teammates on code reviews, knowledge share, hackathons, etc.

About You

Basic Qualifications
  • 5-8+ years of hands-on experience in efficiently implementing machine learning projects, preferably in the domain of time series forecasting
  • Proficiency in machine learning techniques such as dimensionality reduction, resampling, ensemble learning, anomaly detection, feature scaling, and feature selection
  • Demonstrated experience with the development of software systems and use of machine learning algorithms in real-life products
  • Verifiable experience with an object-oriented language such Python, Scala, Java and SQL, etc.
  • Expertise in applied machine learning models and deep learning frameworks (Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, PyTorch, or Keras)
  • Must be a strong teammate with great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Writes modular, idiomatic, and stylistically consistent code that is easy to read and is well documented
  • Finds creative ways to reduce toil & proactively automate common tasks
  • Provide thoughtful and productive code review feedback that is seen by teammates as a significant improvement

Other Qualifications
  • Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
  • Experience with unit testing tools and integration tests tools
  • Experience with code versioning tools like GitHub
  • Experience with JSON, Avro, and other data structures and integration technologies
  • Experience in data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Experience with Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Airflow is a plus
  • Experience with at least one cloud platform (e.g., AWS, GCP)
