Job Description

Overview:

As part of the Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Brand Marketing group, our team is responsible for monetizing Universal’s vast library of films on digital and physical formats globally, while collaborating with other groups across NBCUniversal. The Senior Brand Manager-Catalog holds an essential role building the strategy, budgeting, planning, analysis, and execution of product releases and campaigns. You will be assigned direct responsibility for a portfolio of films and brands. You will be the champion for your product across the organization and with external partners, including digital marketing, digital distribution, creative services, legal, sales, finance, manufacturing, operations, and more. Your main goal is to maximize the profitability of each release, while ensuring that stakeholder needs are met. You will also oversee various ongoing processes and meetings to support the operations of the team.  The role will include at least one direct report.

Responsibilities:

  • Project lead on assigned catalog films and promotions.  Work with your supervisor to develop global product strategy on projects. This includes P&L ownership, greenlighting, creative direction, digital marketing and more.  Oversee project execution and solve issues as needed. Generate ideas to improve profitability of individual projects and the overall business. Keep all projects on track to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that release plans and updates are being shared as well as collaborating with the teams to meet their needs and be setup for success. This applies to 3 distinct parts of our business – Digital Distribution, Studio Distribution Services (for domestic physical) and International.  Examples include regular calls, bi-annual slate presentations and sales meetings, sales guide documents and more.
  • Consistently seek opportunities to maximize the Universal film library with new ideas including key anniversaries, theatrical drafting, seasonal, new to format, etc. across both digital and physical formats. This includes annual planning as well as opportunistic ideas.
  • Maximize exposure of Universal films through digital marketing campaigns including paid media, organic social media and e-mail blasts. This consists of reviewing media plans and creative as well as post-campaign recaps.
  • Partner with retail marketing team to develop account exclusives.
  • Partner with local and international manufacturing teams on any specialty packaging being developed.
  • Oversee annual global catalog marketing budget to ensure invoices are paid, coding is correct and we are staying within budget.
  • Lead select DEI initiatives and ensure that our diverse library of films are incorporated in campaigns and promotions throughout the year
  • Monitor competitive landscape to understand what other studios are doing across all formats in both the US and Internationally and sharing out best practices and key learnings.
  • Set up and maintain projects in UPHE systems. Work with the operations, creative and finance teams to create item numbers, component numbers, project codes, etc. Ensure that legal rights are documented.
  • Proactively provide campaign recaps to manager, team and senior management as needed.
  • Assist manager with overall portfolio management on the physical business including initiatives to reduce costs, inventory, duplicative product, etc.
  • Manage and lead a direct report (if assigned), overseeing the execution of their day-to-day job responsibilities (including approvals of their work) while also actively coaching them to maximize their performance and professional development.
