What You’ll Do
Interact closely with other corporate business units such as sales, marketing, account management and project management. The Technical Manager is a self-starting technical leader with expertise in leadership, communication, resource management and engagement, business acumen, industry framework, and consulting engineering.
Project Technical Lead - 50%
- Direct and manage all engineering activities across the project lifecycle—from early-stage feasibility through design and construction readiness—for renewable energy development projects.
- Oversee multidisciplinary engineering deliverables including site assessments, interconnection studies, permitting support, and preliminary design packages. Ensure alignment with client goals, technical contracts, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison, facilitating clear and effective communication between clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Provide expert guidance on project siting, technology selection, risk mitigation strategies, and overall technical feasibility.
- Coordinate with internal Project Managers to manage project engineering timelines, budgets, and scopes, including change order development, to ensure high-quality, on-time deliverables.
- Maintain high standards of quality and responsiveness. Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications, assuming responsible charge as needed.
- Direct and coordinate the work of multiple engineering disciplines on complex or large-scale development projects.
Management Responsibilities – 30%
- Maintain and grow positive team culture.
- Provides strategic direction, leadership and technical services oversight for employees on achieving individual, team, department, and organizational performance goals.
- Creates and manages team budget for financial responsibility. Includes but is not limited to revenue, profitability, and indirect expenses.
- Coaches, trains, and develops technical staff for growth and development opportunities. Responsible for regular 1:1 meetings, career development discussions, succession planning, quarterly reviews, individual promotions, team retention, and yearly team engagement survey results.
- Actively manages team resource planning along with cross-team resourcing collaboration, individual performance reviews, individual annual merit and bonus decisions, training and professional development for team members.
- Support the role of hiring manager as well as company-wide hiring for successful growth which includes; regular evaluation of candidate resumes, technical phone screens, collaboration with HR partners, and regular in person interviews and debrief assessments.
Business Development Responsibilities – 20%
- Participates and partners with members of the Sales team and engineers throughout the organization to promote revenue growth and expansion of development services with existing and prospective clients.
- Supports proposal efforts by developing, providing resources, and reviewing proposals by working with Proposal Development Team and Project Management group.
- Maintains and builds positive client relationships.
- Participates with cross functional team on strategic initiatives for the company and/or department.
- Additional duties may include tasks beyond what is listed, such as special projects, assisting colleagues, or new initiatives. A willingness to adapt to changing priorities and support team efforts enhances collaboration and growth opportunities.
What We Expect from You
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil preferred) from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent is preferred. Possession of a Professional Engineer
