Synthetic biologists will use our products to engineer how organisms produce cures to diseases, make everyday chemicals by using the atmosphere as the carbon source, enable plants to make their own fertilizers, and to create in-vivo diagnostics that alert us when we are sick, and many more applications.
We are seeking an outstanding, innovative, and creative Senior Research Associate/Research Associate, Protein Sciences, to join our therapeutic antibody discovery effort. This associate will play multiple roles within the Pharma group and will work within a team responsible for antibody discovery, engineering and production utilizing mammalian protein expression, purification, characterization, and stable cell line production.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Generate high-throughput transient transfection IgG production workflows in both HEK293 and CHO expression systems
- Perform protein production, purification, and characterization of diverse biologics, including bispecific and engineered antibodies for early-stage screening and preclinical research work
- Conduct mammalian cell culture and stable cell lines production to validate antibody production
- Characterization of purified material using mass spectrometry, light scattering, IEF, HPLC and other biophysical techniques to generate data package for lead finding, optimization, and developability assessment
- Enable and lead analytical antibody testing efforts (affinity, binning, purity)
- Generate target over-expressing cell lines for antibody discovery work
- Perform molecular cloning to generate constructs to express proteins.
- Plan, perform, analyze, and document laboratory experiments in support of antibody discovery
- Evaluate and support the implementation of new technologies
- Maintain laboratory instruments and logistics
- Work collaboratively under aggressive timelines
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Your educational background includes a B.S./M.S. in cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, protein biochemistry, or related discipline and 2 -3 years of industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
- Strong organization skills and proficiency in computer skills including various databases
- Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills a must
- Extensive experience with molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, stable cell line production, protein purification, protein characterization, HPLC, and HT instrumentation
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Extraordinary attention to detail and planning
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is targeted at $75,000 - $85,010 + bonus + equity + benefits. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations
