JOB SUMMARYProvides services to patients and athletes who have impairments, functional limitations or changes in physical function and health status as a result of injury, illness or other causes with occasional guidance. Actively collaborates with the health care/educational team which consists of the Director of Sports Medicine, team physicians, Vanderbilt University Medical Center specialists, athletic trainers and physical therapists to meet patient care, outcomes and system treatment, rehabilitation care to athletes using modalities, personnel, equipment and supply resources.

Locations: 4th floor of Medical Center East (MCE) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and local high schools.
Schedule: Morning physician clinic coverage; afternoon high school outreach
Job Type: Full-Time
License Required: Tennessee Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT, ATC)
Summary
Vanderbilt Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Athletic Trainer to support our High School Outreach Program. This role combines morning clinical care in a physician practice environment with afternoon on-site athletic training coverage at local high schools. The ideal candidate is patient‑centered, collaborative, and passionate about helping athletes safely return to play.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities (Morning):
Assist physicians with patient evaluations, treatments, and follow-up care.
Provide patient education regarding injury prevention, rehabilitation, and post-operative recovery.
Document clinical findings and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
High School Outreach Responsibilities (Afternoon):
Provide daily athletic training coverage for practices and events at assigned high schools.
Evaluate and manage sports-related injuries in coordination with physicians, coaches, athletes, and families.
Implement injury prevention programs, emergency action plans, and return-to-play protocols.
Serve as a trusted resource for student-athletes, parents, and school communities.
General Expectations:
Travel between the clinic and school locations is required.
Maintain professionalism and uphold Vanderbilt’s commitment to excellence, safety, and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field
Active Tennessee Athletic Trainer License (LAT)
Current BOC Certification (ATC)
CPR/AED certification
Excellent communication, organization, and time‑management skills
Strong commitment to athlete safety and clinical excellence
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) or more years of experience as an Athletic Trainer (clinical or outreach)
