• The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers to support Medicaid HEDIS reporting and quality initiatives. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer position requires advanced technical skills in data management, analysis, and visualization, as well as a deep understanding of HEDIS measures, NCQA and Medicaid programs.

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

• develops, implements, and maintains robust data extraction, transformation and loading process to support HEDIS reporting requirements. 
• Create and manage complex SQL queries and scripts to extract and manipulate data from various sources.
• Integrate data from multiple sources including claims, clinical and provider data, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
• Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to present HEDIS metrics and trends.
• Provide actionable insights on quality improvement initiatives.
• Lead and mentor junior BI engineers and analysts, providing guidance on best practices and technical solutions.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams, including IT, Quality and Market teams to align on data initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations
• Experience analyzing data to solve a wide variety of business problems and create data visualizations that drive strategic direction
• Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data
• Proficiency in HEDIS measures, Medicaid programs and healthcare quality improvement
• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Power BI
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of technical experience in data analysis OR Master's degree and 3 or more years of experience with a focus on healthcare and HEDIS reporting
• Proven experience with SQL, ETL processes, and data warehousing
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other programming languages
• Proficiency in database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)
• Expertise in data mining, forecasting, simulation, and/or predictive modeling
• Proven experience with tools such as Microsoft Power BI for creating data visualizations
• Experience creating advanced visualization and analytical solutions for various healthcare sectors
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills

Work at Home Criteria 

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: 

• At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. 
• Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership. 
• Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense. •Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job. 
• Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
