As Senior Corporate Counsel/ Associate Director, Compliance, you will serve as a strategic legal and compliance advisor to leaders across the organization, helping navigate complex healthcare and corporate compliance issues while supporting innovative business initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, you will help shape and continuously enhance GRAIL's compliance program, influence enterprise-wide initiatives, and foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical decision-making.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced attorney who enjoys solving complex problems, partnering closely with the business, and providing practical, risk-based advice in a dynamic and rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

This role is based in Sunnyvale, California. It offers a flexible work arrangement, with the ability to work from GRAIL's office or from home. Our current flexible work arrangement policy requires that a minimum of 60%, or 24 hours, of your total work week be on-site. Your specific schedule, determined in collaboration with your manager, will align with team and business needs and could exceed the 60% requirement for the site. At our Sunnyvale campus, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the key days where we encourage on-site presence to engage in events and on-site activities.

Responsibilities:

    Strategic Legal & Compliance Counseling
     
  • Serve as a trusted legal and compliance advisor to leaders across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Finance, Marketing, People, Legal, and other corporate functions.
  • Provide practical, business-oriented guidance on healthcare and corporate compliance matters, including the Anti-Kickback Statute,
  • False Claims Act, EKRA, anti-bribery and anti-corruption requirements, and other applicable U.S. and international laws and regulations.
  • Partner with business leaders to evaluate innovative commercial, medical, and operational initiatives, balancing legal and regulatory requirements with business objectives.
  • Advise on healthcare professional (HCP) engagements, consulting arrangements, grants, sponsorships, research support, promotional activities, educational programs, and other business initiatives.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate compliance-related provisions in commercial agreements and other business arrangements, as appropriate.

  • Compliance Program Leadership
  • Partner with the Chief Compliance Officer to strengthen, scale, and continuously improve GRAIL's global compliance program.
  • Lead cross-functional compliance initiatives that enhance governance, operational effectiveness, and accountability across the organization.
  • Develop and enhance compliance policies, procedures, guidance documents, and the Code of Conduct to reflect evolving legal requirements and business priorities.
  • Design and deliver practical compliance training and communications that empower employees to make informed, ethical decisions.

  • Lead or support enterprise compliance risk assessments, monitoring, auditing, and investigations, developing practical mitigation strategies for emerging risks.
  • Monitor changes in healthcare laws, enforcement priorities, and industry standards, translating regulatory developments into actionable business guidance.
