Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Glass and Energy Materials Group (GEM) at Iowa State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to the preparation and characterization of new glassy solid electrolytes for all-solid-state batteries. This role will involve investigating the properties, formation, structure, and dynamics of glass systems (e.g., chalcogenide, phosphate, halide) and their ionic transport behavior for solid-state lithium and sodium battery applications. The successful candidate will also assist with lab management, safety, and overall laboratory operations.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Materials Science and Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5 years of experience in glassy solid electrolyte research
• Experience with preparation and handling of solid-state battery materials
• Experience with laboratory safety protocols and coordinating the daily operations of a research lab
• Evidence of publishing in peer-reviewed journals
