Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers is seeking a Software Engineer I (Salesforce) to join our Personal Insurance organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. Individual will complete intermediate end to end engineering tasks for specific system assignments including developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing based on user or system design specifications, as well as participating in troubleshooting, conducting impact analysis and escalating appropriately. What Will You Do?

Provide Salesforce Service Cloud & FSC Insurance Expertise:

  • Configure basic FSC insurance objects and understand relationships between Policy, Account, and Case records
  • Set up fundamental Omni-Channel configurations including basic queues and routing rules for customer service
  • Create and modify case record types and page layouts specific to different insurance lines of business
  • Build simple flows for common insurance processes like policy inquiries and basic claims intake

Apply Foundational Skills:

  • Understand insurance-specific validation rules and field dependencies
  • Implement basic automation using Process Builder for routine insurance tasks
  • Set up basic Salesforce Connect configurations for read-only access to external insurance data
  • Consume platform events in simple Apex triggers for policy and claims updates
  • Implement basic REST callouts to external insurance APIs
  • Configure Change Data Capture for standard insurance objects

Apply API Fundamentals:

  • Understand REST API basics for insurance data exchange
  • Create simple Apex REST endpoints for basic insurance operations
  • Implement basic bulk API operations for data loading and updates
  • Monitor API usage and limits in insurance data processing scenarios
  • Perform analysis, design, development, and configuration functions as well as define technical requirements for assignments of intermediate complexity.
  • Participate with team to perform analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents of intermediate complexity and escalate appropriately.
  • Work within guidelines set by team to independently tackle well-scoped problems.
  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Three years of programming/development experience preferred.
  • Delivery - Intermediate delivery skills including the ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace to achieve commitments, decompose work assignments into small batch releases and contribute to tradeoff and negotiation discussions.
  • Domain Expertise - Demonstrated track record of domain expertise including the ability to understand technical concepts necessary to do the job effectively, demonstrate willingness, cooperation, and concern for business issues and possess in-depth knowledge of immediate systems worked on.
  • Problem Solving - Proven problem solving skills including debugging skills, allowing you to determine source of issues in unfamiliar code or systems and the ability to recognize and solve repetitive problems rather than working around them, recognize mistakes using them as learning opportunities and break down large problems into smaller, more manageable ones.
