Job Description
Performs routine and emergency mechanical repairs including: preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting equipment problems, repairing equipment and installation of equipment.
Extensive knowledge and experience with installs, repairs, rebuilds and maintains precision machine and production tools and equipment.
- Diagnose machine malfunctions and difficulties, plan and implement actions necessary to return equipment to operation and prevent future breakdowns.
- Rebuilds machines and overhauls troublesome components.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics and machine manuals in order to perform safe and effective repairs.
- Operates testing equipment, power tolls, hand tools, torches, welders and precision measuring instruments.
- Performs skilled operations such as fitting and aligning of bearings, spindles and shafts. Fits, aligns and calibrates measuring devices and feeding mechanisms.
- Performs machine tool and processing equipment installation and relocation efforts.
- Performs erecting, leveling, fitting and aligning actions necessary for safe and effective installation. Understands basic electrical problems.
- Routinely contacts suppliers or manufacturers on part information, repair issues, improvement needs and shipping instructions.
- Assists other maintenance team members in meeting requirements.
- Serves as a resource to production, engineering and other plant personnel.
- Maintains and improves knowledge and skill requirements in all maintenance required trade areas. Maintains user knowledge of tools, testing, equipment, measuring instruments, conveyance and material handling equipment.
- Update data bases and retrieve information from computer systems.
- Operates company vehicles, conveyance and material handling equipment.
- Completes appropriate paperwork, machine documentation and preventative maintenance records. Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment.
- Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and guidance.
Preferred experience working on:
- CNC Machining and Turning Centers (Leblond-Makino, Robo-Drill, Takasawa, Hardinge)
- Precision ID, OD and Centerless Grinders (Bryant, UVA, Micron)
- Honing Machines (MicroMatic, Kadia)
- Automatic Screw Machines (ACME, Brown-n-Sharp)
- Diesel Calibration Machines
- Pump, Valve, and Cylinder Repair
- Calibration and Assembly Repair
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 6-8 years experience working as Machine Repair person in an industrial mechanic capacity
- Preferred: Completion of a 4 year apprentice program certified by the US Dept of Labor.
- Preferred: Either has or is able to obtain UAW Journey Card
