Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the activities of the dietary employees involved in preparing and serving foods to patients, staff, families and customers. Manager may assist or complete duties if staffing levels do not fill the required positions indicated to operate effectively.
Coordinate and supervise the cafeteria service during meals.
Responsible for the total operation of the department on assigned holidays and weekends.
Relieves duties for the other Food Service Manager.
Manage quality control of all food items utilized.
Instruct employees in methods of performing duties and assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote efficiency of operation.
Supervise the training of new staff and their daily work duties.
In service and develop employees as indicated or assigned.
Participate in planning cafeteria and room service menus and utilization of leftovers. Meet with food vendors and brokers regarding new food products.
Report equipment repairs and place the engineering service request into the computer.
Responsible for the first step of the employee disciplinary process and performance evaluations.
Ensure cleaning schedules are followed and completed correctly.
Accurately complete production and pull sheets.
Coordinates the room service meal program for the inpatients. Utilizes the computer program for coordinating room service for our inpatients.
Efficiently answer telephone calls from patients requesting meals. Handles all calls with a high level of customer service and a knowledge of diets and compliance.
Required Skills/Abilities
Associates Degree from an accredited college with a major in food management or culinary management required.
Must be a Registered Food Service Manager with the State of Texas.
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a food service operation involving patient and cafeteria feeding in a healthcare setting.
Must be knowledgeable in therapeutic and normal pediatric nutrition.
