About the role

 

Job Summary: 

Assists the Beverage Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Beverage Department. Supports proper staffing, training, inventory management, and ensures the department meets budgetary and operational goals. Assists in maintaining high standards of beverage service and ensures the department's adherence to policies, procedures, and compliance with applicable laws. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Will assist in supervising up to six Beverage Supervisors, Bartenders, Cocktail Servers, and Bar Porters. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in ensuring proper staffing for forecasted volume and budgetary guidelines, contributing to training, and development of team members. ● Assist in ordering liquor, wine, and beer, ensuring proper inventory levels are maintained. 
  • Monitor inventories regularly and report discrepancies to the Beverage Manager. 
  • Help with taking the beverage end-of-period inventory and assisting in the reporting to the Department Analyst. 
  • Ensure that budgeted figures for labor and other expenses are met by supporting operational efforts. 
  • Notify team members and supervisors of changes in policy and procedure.
  • Work closely with the Department Trainer to ensure all new hires are trained with both classroom and on-the-floor programs and assist with follow-up training for existing team members. 
  • Communicate operational issues or concerns to the Beverage Manager and collaborate with other departments as needed. 
  • Assist in evaluating team members for performance and support succession planning efforts.
  • Maintain files and records that ensure smooth operation in the absence of the Beverage Manager. 
  • Support accurate and thorough departmental records and reports.
  • Promote the casino’s positive image through goodwill and exceptional service.
  • Assist in ensuring maximum service levels and satisfaction within beverage operations. 
  • Ensure departmental compliance with applicable federal and state laws governing food and beverage service. 
  • Help maintain sufficient materials and products in the work location.
  • Maintain the security of products and areas assigned to the department.
  • Help ensure the rotation of products and manage inventory. 
  • Available as needed, understanding that this is a 24-hour responsibility.
  • Maintain professional grooming and appearance, serving as a role model to the team. 
  • Ensure that all team members are treated fairly and consistently.
  • Perform any other duties specified or assigned by the Beverage Manager or other members of the Executive Management team. 
  • Assist in developing and training the sales team approach with beverage team members. 

 

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 

    • Three (3) + years of experience in restaurant or bar management.
    • One (1) + years of experience in multi-venue management (preferred).
    • Strong understanding of federal and local alcohol control laws.
    • Ability to take initiative and lead by example with creativity and problem-solving.
    • Self-starter with a track record of supporting new ideas and assessing results.

     

    Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations: 

    • Gaming license/registration as required by jurisdiction(s).

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills with attention to detail.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization. 
    • Strong business acumen with an understanding of industry business drivers.
    • Ability to build credibility and rapport with operating leaders.
    • Ability to analyze data, understand trends, and contribute to recommendations for action.

     

    Physical Requirements: 

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to work flexible shifts and days, including weekends and holidays.
    • Ability to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise, bright lights, smoke, and dust.
