JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Professor will lead and contribute to the research, service, and operational activities of the core within the Moody Brain Health Institute. The role will focus on application of advanced predictive and Artificial Intelligence models to patient data. This will include development of digital twins, ghost patients, and creation of simulated data. They will also contribute to statistical and bioinformatic analysis, development of grant proposals, and scholarly publications. The Assistant Professor will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, actively supporting the technology and data needs of the core.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead and execute the core’s research initiatives, advancing key projects and objectives.
- Design and implement predictive models based on patient data to support research and clinical applications.
- Lead the development of virtual patient models to advance personalized medicine and data-driven research.
- Develop comprehensive data extraction strategies for Electronic Health Record (EHR) data, ensuring efficient and accurate analysis.
- Craft and submit grant proposals to secure funding for the core’s research and operational needs.
- Author and publish scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the scientific community.
- Present research findings and core activities at both internal and external conferences, symposia, and workshops.
- Assist in identifying and defining the technological infrastructure and tools needed to advance the core’s research.
- Partner with the core director to plan resources and training for the development of AI tools and technologies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, or a related biomedical field.
- Proven experience in bioinformatic analysis and/or statistical modeling,
- Strong record of peer-reviewed publications or successful grant proposals.
- Familiarity with EHR data extraction, and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in working with AI and machine learning models, particularly in the biomedical context.
- Prior involvement in leading or managing research projects.
