Job Description
The Financial Analyst is a critical role responsible for performing a combination of Accounting and Finance Duties for the Warfighter Systems business unit. This role requires flexibility and an interest in financial reporting and general ledger responsibilities with emphasis on supporting internal controls (SOX). This position includes work related to and responsibility for:
- Prepare Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and supporting schedules.
- Perform monthly closing activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting as required.
- Analyze and resolve accounting discrepancies and implement corrective action plans.
- Assist financial management by developing and evaluating financial models, assumptions for reasonableness, and accuracy for data-based decisions and projections.
- Assist in providing regular financial guidance to and interaction with other personnel and functions in order to improve operating results, measure performance, and promote compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist with quarterly and annual audit procedures.
- Assist with quarterly physical inventory counts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA is a plus, but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in related field.
- Defense contracting experience and working knowledge of Government cost principles – Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Supplement (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) is a plus but not required.
- Advanced expertise analyzing financial information. Must possess high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail but able to look at the “big picture.”
- Ability to design processes and metrics within the functional area.
- Overall mindset of continuous improvement. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be able to proactively identify and implement process improvements.
- Advanced expertise with MS Excel including complex formulas and pivot tables.
- Ability to communicate financial and accounting terms to business unit staff.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
