Job Description

Wood Mackenzie is seeking a highly skilled and experienced US Tax Manager to join our team based in Louisville, Kentucky. The US Tax Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations, optimizing tax strategies, and providing expert guidance on tax-related matters.

Main Responsibilities

Tax Compliance:

• Ensure timely and accurate compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
• Work with our external advisors where tax compliance processes have been out-sourced.
  • Manage and oversee the data collection and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns.
  • Manage and oversee the data collection and review of US sales and use tax returns.

Tax Planning and Strategy:

• Assist with the development and implementation of tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position.
• Identify opportunities for tax savings and risk mitigation.
• Provide expert advice on tax implications of business decisions and transactions.

Financial Reporting:

• Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate tax accounting and financial reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures.

Audit and Controversy:

• Manage tax audits and examinations by federal, state, and local tax authorities.
• Resolve tax-related inquiries and disputes in a timely and efficient manner.

Compliance Monitoring:

• Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, and ensure the company's compliance.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and processes to support tax compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
• Preferred 5-7 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, including significant exposure to federal and state tax compliance and planning.
• Strong understanding of US tax laws and regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with tax software and financial systems.
