About the role

Full Time| Monday - Friday | 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 

Job Purpose or Objective(s):  The Emergency Management Coordinator will act as a program specialist for the Choctaw Nation Emergency Management Department. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating the comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) in compliance with federal regulations. The coordinator will also support the planning and execution of exercises and drills following the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) guidelines. This includes ensuring that After Action Reports (AARs) and Improvement Plans (IPs) are thoroughly documented and completed. Additionally, the coordinator will develop Incident Action Plans (IAPs) for all emergencies and planned events, ensuring that all required Incident Command System (ICS) forms are properly completed and attached. The role also involves preparing situational reports (SitReps) for leadership, actively participating in incident management operations during emergencies, and supporting community education initiatives. The coordinator will also assist with volunteer coordination when needed.

Primary Tasks:

  1. You will document emergency preparedness drills following accrediting body standards and the guidelines outlined in the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
  2. Coordinate training efforts to ensure staff training related to the plans of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
  3. Develop a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
  4. Conduct hazard and risk assessments, identify and analyze trends, rank and score the hazard profiles and determine mitigation efforts needed to complete annual Hazard Vulnerability Analysis.
  5. You will provide leadership with sound operational description of needs for response, recovery, and mitigation efforts.
  6. Test and maintain emergency management communication and response equipment to ensure functionality.
  7. Ensure documentation and accounting for equipment, personnel, and expenditures incurred during a response to an emergency.
  8. Participate in quarterly committee reviews and create reports.
  9. Perform other tasks as may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in emergency management or related field and three [3] years of directly related experience or five [5] years of directly related experience in lieu of education.
  • Associate Emergency Manager (AEM®) certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
  • Complete the NIMS training (ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800), WebEOC, EMResources & HSEEP training or obtain within one year of employment.
  • Obtain OKFirst Assistant certification.
  • Obtain OK First Weather Radar Interpretation Certification
  • Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Hospital Incident Command System (HICS)
  • Proficiency using standard office software applications.
