The Pharmacy Technician III operational functions of pharmacy technicians as required for the specific role. The pharmacy technician III independently performs a variety of technical pharmaceutical functions which may include compounding medications, preparing prescriptions, performing order entry, ordering medications, prior authorization of patient specific therapies, and internal auditing. This position will work with stakeholders inside and outside of the pharmacy department to complete crucial and complex tasks relating to patient care, financial and billing practices, or regulatory compliance.
In conjunction with the Quality Assurance Sterile Compounding Pharmacist and Pharmacy Operations Manager, the Quality Assurance Sterile Compounding Technician is responsible for coordinating personnel and compounding room compliance with USP Chapter <797> and USP Chapter <800>. This position will also be required to staff in the IV room pharmacy to maintain their own competency and ensure they can effectively conduct training, education of new employees, complete competencies of current employees, and develop policies and procedures that align with the pharmacy workflows and meet facility requirements.
This is a 1.0 FTE (40 Hours) role that will work out of our South Lake Union Campus. This role will primarily be Monday thru Friday but will include periodic Holiday shifts dependent on clinical need.
Responsibilities
- Performs complex and unique duties within the pharmacy department
- Interpret, evaluate, and summarize information and datasets of varying sizes
- Communicate effectively and professionally with stakeholder inside and outside of pharmacy department
- Develop and maintain internal (within Fred Hutch) and external relationships (such as vendors, payors, distributors)
- Work independently and within teams to complete tasks
- Documentation information or results in clear and concise ways
- Generate and present reports of tasks to Pharmacy Operations Manager or Director of Pharmacy
- Other duties as assigned
- Complete routine and as needed environmental sampling of sterile compounding areas and coordination of action plans based on sampling results
- Coordination of semi-annual recertification of compounding areas
- Reviews all certifications and recertification records to ensure the sterile compounding areas comply with requirements and prepares these items for review by the Quality Assurance Sterile Compounding Pharmacist and Pharmacy Operations Managers
- Reports any problems or failures (as related to sterile compounding) to pharmacists and ensures there is documented response with corrective action
- Educates and trains new employees to ensure competency of all individuals involved in sterile compounding
- Recertifies sterile compounding staff involved in sterile compounding at required intervals
- Write and review sterile compounding policies and standard operating procedures
- Record keeping relating to sterile compounding such as training records, area certification records, and cleaning records

Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Washington state pharmacy technician certification.
- 2 years pharmacy technician experience
- Maintaining excel sheets
- Familiar with the generic names of dr
