OVERALL DESCRIPTION
LEGAL
Performs tasks related to analyses and the harvesting of video and other data evidence from systems, reports and other documents used by the Legal Division in support of the Authority’s position of defense against claims/litigation.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
LEGAL
- Performs analyses and support activities relevant to Video Evidence Unit (VEU) goals and program/project assignments and objectives.
- Executes the search initiation, video content review entering into video retrieval database, copying to DVD, and cataloging/storing of identified video of interest from Legal division’s fixed and mobile video systems View Stations; or when required, by field-side visitation and retrieval from target locations/vehicles throughout the Authority’s property, or contractor facilities.
- Performs tasks related to analyses including but not limited to the ongoing development and population of spreadsheets and databases, the identification and reporting of related VEU performance, resource utilization, production and trend indices, and other ad hoc management reporting assignments.
- Conducts electronic and manual method search and captures of data related to previously reported or unreported incidents – otherwise known as “Tracers”, and used for SEPTA’s defense against unreported and/or fraudulent claims.
- Complies with and facilitates all internal policies, procedures and matters of applicable law as it relates to the professional and ethical use of evidence; specifically video technology and associated intellectual property, its capture, retention, storage and preservation methods and practices.
- Assists in the coordination of, and conducts operational/report analyses training in support of other VEU assigned personnel/contractors.
- Participates in the monitoring of VEU systems performance, other in-house agency and third party support compliance requirements and expectations.
- Proactively monitor Control Center/Police communications systems and daily reports as a search initiation tool, in advance of formal video capture request.
- Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
LEGAL
- Bachelor’s Degree plus three (3) years of demonstrated supervisory, analytical or administrative work experience required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience (i.e., two (2) years of relevant experience equating to one (1) year of formal post high school education) may be considered in lieu of the above listed requirements.
- Understanding of basic business relationships and confidentiality principles. Demonstrated experience working with confidential issues and material in a discreet manner is required.
- Must possess excellent oral and written skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a diverse, demanding environment. Excel and writing skills, to include grammar, punctuation and spelling required.
- Exactness and attention to detail in reviewing/preparing records and reports, avoidance of errors required.
- Annual execution of confidentiality agreement required.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Ability to work alone which includes field-site visitations and retrieval assignments required.
