FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH - OPEN COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITY

Your Specific Responsibilities:

• Provides clerical functions including, but not limited to answering the telephone, making appointments, confirming appointments, and registering patients. 
• Sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials for procedures.
• Assist Dentist during dental procedures.
• Takes and records treatment information in patient records.
• Performs dental diagnostic x-rays.
• Performs prophylaxis and may perform dental sealants.
• Assist with dental clinic inventory and ordering processes.
• Provides Dental Hygiene education to patients and families. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of dental equipment, instruments and supplies, basic dental terminology
• Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
• Knowledge of dental assisting skills, organizational and planning skills, self-direction and self-motivation and human relations skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and maintain effective working relationships with others

               

Qualifications:

Minimum-

• Graduate of an approved Dental Assistant Program which includes Dental Radiology Certification
• CPR Certification
• One year experience working as a Dental Assistant

Preferred-

• One or more years’ experience working as a Dental Assistant
