SUMMARY

The Business Systems Coordinator (Coordinator) will assist various project teams in the development of future CATS projects, and coordinate tasks within larger construction, maintenance, or rehabilitation projects for CATS Operations and Facilities.

The Business Systems Coordinator (Coordinator) will work under the supervision of the Technology Business Systems Supervisor in the Technology Department at Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS).  The Coordinator will assist various project teams in the development of future CATS projects, and coordinate tasks within larger construction, maintenance, or rehabilitation projects for CATS Operations and Facilities. This position will support the overall operation and cyber security aspects for the transit network and requires use of local, state, and federal specifications (FTA standards) and regulations for development of projectsWork requires the use of technical expertise, judgment, and discretion.  Work involves considerable contact with the project teams, contractors, and other City/CATS employees. 

 

This position requires a high level of interpersonal, technical, collaboration, community engagement and leadership skills. This is a senior level position, requiring expert knowledge in all aspects of Operational systems, Bus and Rail systems, SCADA networks, Fare Collection, and Vehicle Location systems design principles and practicesDevelops comprehensive transit business requirements, technical lead for Request for Proposal (RFP) / Request for Information (RFI) initiatives and ensures project compliance and maintain National ITS standardsRequires strong experience in construction/industrial/development environments and has ability to work independently, as priorities will fluctuate. 

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent and 7 year(s) of relevant experience; or 2 Year College degree and 5 year(s) of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree and 3 year(s) of relevant experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high level of personal integrity. Understand and interact with related disciplines to ensure the consistent application of policies and standards across all technology projects, systems and services. Innovative thinking and leadership with an ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams. Experience with contract and vendor negotiations and management including managed services. Experience with managing a budget. Knowledge of Technology Asset Management including IT Asset Management (ITAM) tools and ITIL Change Control management. Performing business analysis to identify gaps, overlaps, inefficiencies, and risk within existing business processes. Create new processes and make recommendations to improve existing processes.
Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships. Meet schedules and deadlines of the work including timelines for contract creation and renewals.
