This College Intern position is with the Oakland County Clerk’s Office e-Services Legal Self Help Center.
The Oakland County Clerk’s Office, Clerk of the Court to the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court, operates the e-Services Center which provides free access to eight computer stations for use by customers in e-filing court documents, searching court records, obtaining copies of records, and access to legal help via michiganlegalhelp.org.
Personnel at the Clerk’s e-Services Center assist walk-in customers by providing legal information and assisting with identifying and completing legal forms, supporting legal research, navigating the Michigan Legal Help site, assistance with e-filing, and providing basic guidance.
The e-Services Center is located on the ground floor of the Oakland County Courthouse at 1200 N. Telegraph Road in Pontiac, Michigan. The center is open to the public every Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except on county holidays.
General Summary
Under close supervision, performs entry level professional duties of moderate difficulty providing the opportunity for professional training in various offices throughout the County. Performs assigned duties to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures and standards required for successful performance. May perform duties such as gathering and organizing data to provide information for departmental special projects or reports; basic arithmetic computations; assist in preparing written reports; accompany professional level employees on assignments; conduct interviews with clients or County personnel to obtain basic information for departmental use; contacts other County departments or outside agencies by phone to request or give information and other related duties as assigned. Assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to the County's organizational structure. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
