A Brief Overview
The Manager of Quality and Clinical Effectiveness is directly responsible for leading and developing a team of Quality Consultant(s), Clinical Nurse Specialist(s), Senior Quality Consultants, and Data Analyst(s) to optimize clinical care services and processes at Stanford Health Care's Interventional Platform. The Manager will guide and empower the team to plan, organize, evaluate, and execute large-scale organizational-wide clinical improvement initiatives in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to improve care delivery across Stanford Health Care. This position will work closely with medical providers, leadership, and the front-line staff to develop continuous quality improvement programs and set strategic initiatives.

What you will do
  • Leadership and Oversight • Provide strategic leadership and direction for quality improvement initiatives across interdisciplinary teams, based on Director’s direction. • Manages team to help achieve strategic goals and imperatives. • Manages and mentor quality consultants, data analysts, and clinical specialists to enhance their professional development and performance. • Leads clinical quality improvement programs and initiatives, executing strategic direction and collaboration with internal resources, consultants, information technology, and medical and administrative leadership.
  • Quality Improvement Initiatives • Develop, implement, and evaluate quality improvement programs aimed at enhancing patient care and outcomes across various disciplines, with oversight by Director. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify areas for improvement and establish evidence-based practices.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting • Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of clinical data to inform quality improvement strategies. • Prepare and present reports on quality metrics, trends, and outcomes to stakeholders, including leadership and administration.
  • Regulatory Compliance • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements related to quality and patient safety. • Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and standards, and implement necessary adjustments in practice.
  • Education and Training • Develop and deliver training programs for staff on quality improvement methodologies and best practices. • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Patient Safety and Risk Management • Lead initiatives to enhance patient safety and reduce adverse events within clinical practice. • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions for identified quality and safety issues.
  • Stakeholder Engagement • Collaborate with clinical leaders, staff, and other departments to promote a shared vision for quality care. • Engage with patients and families to gather feedback and incorporate their perspectives into quality improvement efforts.
  • Performance Metrics and Evaluation • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of quality initiatives. • Regularly assess and report on the impact of quality improvement efforts on patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Research and Evidence-Based Practice • Promote the integration of research findings and evidence-based practices into clinical care. • Encourage participation in quality-related research projects and initiatives.

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college required.
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a work-related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of patient care processes and quality improvement required.
  • Experience must include a minimum 3 years of experience in quality improvement, patient safety, or performance improvement roles within a healthcare organization.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of quality improvement methodologies and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques and performance metrics.
  • Awareness of patient safety principles and risk management practices.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practices in healthcare.
