The Senior IT Systems Administrator is an IT generalist who has experience working with a hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environment and with SaaS based applications. This person will be responsible for provisioning and supporting the servers, network, and end-user computer infrastructure, to support the ongoing and evolving research efforts at The AI Institute.

What you will do
- Maintain, configure, and support, the computer systems, network devices (wired and wireless), servers, and virtualized environments
- Troubleshoot hardware and systems errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
- Maintain documentation of IT procedures
- Automate processes for monitoring and patching IT systems
- Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
What we are looking for
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of network administration, or system administration experience
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, software, hardware, and networking protocols
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Experience with providing first level IT support for in-office and remote employees
- Experience working in a mixed (Windows, Mac, Linux) desktop environment
- Experience with IT systems monitoring
- Experience with IT process automation
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
- Ability to work in The AI Institute’s office in Cambridge, MA 5 days per week
Bonus
- System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields
- Experience managing a Google Workspace environment
- Experience with Google Cloud
- Working knowledge of virtualization and containerization
- Experience analyzing, troubleshooting and optimizing WiFi
