Position Overview and Responsibilities:

  • This is an intermediate level Government Operations Consultant II grants position. Utilizing knowledge of the Statutes and Regulations governing the Resilient Florida Program this position will:
  • Assist the grant management staff for the Resilient Florida Program in the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection. 
  • Prepare and compile grant documents in accordance with the State of Florida, Department and Resilient Florida Program
  • Coordinate directly with other DEP staff, federal agencies, and local authorities to facilitate successful completion of grants and projects. 
  • Perform data entry into program and department databases.
  • Coordinate and report on status of projects through all phases including completion. 
  • Assist team leader with grants and projects assigned. 
  • Coordinates and assists with the review, approvals, and processing of administrative and technical aspects of assigned projects. 
  • Assists in the creation or editing of standard operating procedures for the section.
  • This position will assist in the development and implementation of statewide measures to assist communities in completing vulnerability assessments and implementing adaptation projects. 
  • The position also coordinates with the other sections and program areas in the Department in pursuit of the overall mission. 
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of grant and contract best management practices.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis. 
  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
  • Skilled in the use of computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Skilled in typing reports and information into spreadsheets and electronic documents.
  • Ability to collect, compile, organize, and analyze data.
  • Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply related policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to review and monitor policies and procedures for compliance with applicable requirements. 
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze data relating to grant management activities. 
  • Ability to compile and review financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to grants management activities. 
  • Ability to develop and organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, proposals, and other written documents. 
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain certification as a Florida Certified Contract Manager.
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver license.
