WORK SITE: Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center and Radiation Oncology Department located at 116 N Pauline, Memphis, TN
WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Direct Patient Care (90%):
- Evaluation and treatment of inpatient and outpatient radiation oncology patients.
- Provide comprehensive treatment plans, follow-up evaluations, and radiation therapy consultations, including prostate seed implants (if applicable).
- Utilization of advanced modalities: IMRT, IGRT, Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), and Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRT).
- Maintain documentation of treatment plans and patient outcomes in the VA's electronic medical record system (CPRS).

Treatment Planning & Management:
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical evaluation and imaging.
- Adjust treatment plans during therapy as necessary.
- Monitor and manage side effects or complications from radiation therapy.
- Conduct weekly examinations and participate in chart rounds and case reviews.

Standards of Care:
- Ensure care is in line with VA and national standards (NHPP, AAPM, TJC).
- Provide services that meet or exceed guidelines set by the American College of Radiology (ACR), American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and American Association for Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).

On-Call Services:
- Be available for phone consultations outside of clinic hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ensure timely response (within 2 hours) for emergency cases requiring immediate evaluation or radiotherapy.

Treatment Discharge:
- Provide a detailed discharge summary and arrange follow-up appointments.
- Ensure that patients receive post-treatment evaluations within 30-60 days.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Licensure: Unrestricted medical license to practice in any U.S. state, territory, or District of Columbia.

Board Certification: ABR-certified in Radiation Oncology and currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalents.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience (excluding residency) in radiation oncology, with expertise in:
- 3D Conformal Radiation Therapy (3D-CRT)
- Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) - 3 years of experience
- Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) - minimum 10 cases in the last 2 years
- Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) - minimum 10 cases in the last 2 years
- Experience with Eclipse treatment planning system and ARIA record & verify system.

Technical Proficiency:
- Comprehensive understanding of radiation oncology principles, care procedures, and patient management techniques, specific to the VA patient population.
Work Schedule:
Onsite, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, excluding holidays. On-call coverage during off-hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) is required.
