Title: Coordinator of Network Services and Cybersecurity

Reports To:  Director of Technology

Takes Direction From:  Director of Technology 

Schedule/Calendar:  12 month  

Summary:  The Coordinator of Network Operations and Cybersecurity is responsible for the administration and cybersecurity of the technology information systems and services, including the implementation, maintenance, and administration of the school division's core network and systems infrastructure, computing environment, mobile devices, and printing. Works collaboratively with both the Educational Technology and Administrative Technology divisions, ensuring that infrastructure decisions actively empower classroom learning and district business operations, while maximizing security. Utilizes industry best practices to establish departmental procedures, cybersecurity controls, and guidelines, and measurable performance metrics to provide outstanding customer service, technical support, and core systems reliability. This position oversees the Supervisor of Academic Technology, Technology Support Assistants, Desktop and Device Specialist, and Network Engineering departments.

Essential Functions:

A. Strategic Departmental Leadership & Collaboration

• Core Team Leadership:
  • Serves as a core member of the technology department's leadership team.
  • Actively contributes to long-term strategic planning, departmental visioning, policy development, and capital improvement budgets, driving initiatives that align infrastructure capabilities with the district's overall goals.
• Cross-Divisional Collaboration:
  • Partners directly with the Educational Technology team to ensure network, device, and security policies support innovative classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • Collaborates with Administrative Technology teams to secure and optimize backend business systems.
• Team Leadership & Field Supervision:
  • Directly supervises, evaluates, and mentors network engineering staff and building-level technology technicians.
  • Translated complex technical objectives into actionable workflows for field staff, fostering a collaborative, responsive, and service-oriented IT culture that prioritizes outstanding user support.
  • Evaluates and holds assigned staff accountable for performance and professionalism.
  • Interviews and recommends employees and recommends transfers, reassignments, and disciplinary actions.
  • Plans, coordinates, and arranges appropriate training for assigned staff.

  • Stays current with technology trends and best practices by reading journals/papers, taking courses, networking with colleagues, and attending workshops.

B. Infrastructure, Systems, & Operations

• Infrastructure:
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the technology infrastructure, cybersecurity controls, technical support, network services, and systems administration teams, including technical support, network management, fiber-optic backbone, data centers, servers, routers, switches, software, and hardware systems maintenance, telecommunications, and teleconferencing.
• Network Topology:
  • Designs, optimizes, and maintains the district's multi-site wired and wireless network topology.
  • Ensures secure network segmentation (separating instructional, administrative, and IoT/guest traffic), robust firewall configurations, and traffic prioritization for instructional and operational needs.
