About the role
The Specialist will coordinate, oversee, and inspect electrical activities as performed by Facilities Mechanics under the direction of the master electrician at assigned locations, satellite support areas, and other locations. Reinforce Con Edison's Safety Vision for Zero Harm and participate in regular safety meetings. Interface with stakeholders daily, perform various troubleshooting and repair activities and support capital and maintenance projects. Provide the Project Specialist (master electrician) with accurate and timely information concerning activities and performance. Support regional operations as directed and supervised by the master electrician. Administer and communicate materials including operating procedures, engineering plans, construction specifications, and methods of procedure (MOPs) to ensure proper performance of electrical maintenance and construction activities. Core Responsibilities
- Oversee projects related to the maintenance of electrical components in the physical plant including mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilating, vertical transportation, and cooling systems.
- Oversee contractors and provide general and timely support services to tenant organizations. Plan, direct and control the safe and efficient operation of various assigned tasks within Company facilities in accordance with corporate and departmental operating procedures. Ensure the implementation of Company safety, health, and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
- Provide job safety briefings to project-assigned personnel before the commencement of specific tasks and when job conditions change. Schedule and report personnel time for assigned personnel in accordance with Company and department procedures. Provide on-the-job training when required. Order and coordinate the timely supply of materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure work is conducted efficiently.
- Schedule and report expenditures for materials and subcontractor labor. Monitor O&M and Capital expenditures to ensure budget guidelines are met. Schedule, monitor, and/or support the performance of maintenance and periodic testing of critical building systems as directed.
- Provides oversight, monitors and evaluates the performance of assigned project personnel, and reports performance issues.
- Provide on-call coverage during weekends and off-hour shifts and respond to emergency maintenance requests, schedule and perform oversight during non-electrical Facilities functions, when required.
- Work with Security Services to maintain facility securement at all times and follow all security procedures required. Performs other related assignments as required.

- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years Facilities Management or Electrical Construction Experience or
- Associate's Degree and 4 years Facilities Management or Electrical Construction Experience or
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years Facilities Management or Electrical Construction Experience
- Facilities Management-Knowledge of Building Systems, required.
- Knowledge of leading in a Collective Bargaining Agreement-governed environment, to include Union Rules and Protocols, required.
- Supervisory experience, required.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, required.
- Knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, is required.
- Electrical construction project performance/management/oversight is required.
- Working familiarity with and understanding of interior electrical distribution including, but not limited to low voltage systems, transformers, heating systems, LOTO, reading/interpreting blueprints and one-line diagrams, automatic transfer switches, emergency generators, motors, and motor controls, required.
- General working experience with and knowledge of electrical safety practices, the National Electric Code, and associated NYC amendments, required.
- Experience working with Maximo or similar work management systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of Oracle or similar financial management systems is preferred.
- Working with budgets and cost reporting is preferred.
