About the role
O’Neal is seeking an experienced professional Structural Engineer to lead the design team in our Greenville, SC home office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering, particularly in the design for industrial manufacturing facilities. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and a passion for driving excellence in engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Talent Development:
- Lead and manage the structural engineering department, including recruitment, training, and performance management of team members.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, promoting continuous learning and development.
- Create and implement department goals, strategies, and initiatives aligned with the company's vision and objectives.
- Project Execution:
- Develop man-hour estimates and technical proposals for potential projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring the highest standards of design quality.
- Manage project engineering budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring efficient and effective project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored engineering solutions.
- Ensure effective coordination with other design disciplines.
Technical Expertise:

- Possess extensive design experience with steel structures, building foundations, equipment foundations, pipe racks, platforms, and in-plant engineering.
- Conduct studies, site assessments, and technical evaluations for industrial power systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Verify design quality of all structural deliverables and promote a standard of quality within the design group.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in SC is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on industrial manufacturing facilities.
- Experience in a project leadership or management role within an engineering consulting firm.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in or exposure to design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD, Risa, and Navisworks.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
