Position Overview
The University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering. We seek a visionary leader and accomplished scholar who will guide the department in achieving excellence in education, research, and service.
The successful candidate will hold a 12-month tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Professor and will report directly to the Dean of the College of Engineering.
This is a 12-month position with an expected workload of 50% administrative; 20% teaching; 20% research; and 10% service.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated leadership experience in academic or research administration.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
A record of teaching, research, and service achievements meriting appointment as a tenured Professor at UNT.
Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with ABET accreditation and program assessment.
• Evidence of successful industry, government, or research collaborations.
• Experience in fundraising, development, or advancement activities.
• A record of supporting student success and faculty development.
