The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is the agency charged with licensing and regulating State of Florida businesses and professionals, such as cosmetologists, veterinarians, condominiums, hotels, and restaurants. Our mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly, and we strive to meet this goal in our day-to-day operations.

 

The Work You Will Do:

This position is located within the Fort Lauderdale office of the Division of Florida Condominium, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes and reports to the Bureau Chief of Compliance. It is responsible for overseeing the investigative sections of the Bureau located in our Fort Lauderdale offices.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for all required tasks related to managing supervisors and their employees.

  • Provides appropriate motivation to employees and meets with supervisory staff regularly.
  • Plans workflow and objectives and establishes deadlines. 
  • Reviews investigative reports for accuracy and evidentiary substance and provides feedback and training when needed.
  • Provides written and telephonic responses to complaints and inquiries from the public concerning issues regulated by the Division's program areas. 
  • Communicates with the public in a timely manner and is knowledgeable in applying the statutes and administrative rules enforced by the division to varying factual scenarios. 
  • Develops and maintains a network of contacts among members and representatives of regulated industries. 
  • Maintains a wide range of general knowledge of the Department and other agencies' functions in order to provide referral information to the public as needed.
  • Consult with supervisors to determine areas of concern and possible solutions to problems in their regions.
  • Reports and makes recommendations to the Bureau Chief, Division Director, or Deputy Director regarding additional program needs necessary to carry out the agency's purpose as mandated by the Legislature. 
  • Performs other related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Florida Law and Administrative Rules related to Condominiums, Timeshares, Mobile Homes and Cooperatives. 
  • Knowledge of personnel policies and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Skilled in managing databases and case tracking. 
  • Skilled in identifying critical issues with regard to complaints.
  • Ability to travel by car to the Bureau’s central Florida field offices to conduct business on a regular basis.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply statutes and administrative rules to specific fact scenarios. 

Minimum Requirements:

·       Three (3) years supervisory experience

·       Four (4) years of investigatory or regulatory experience

·       A valid driver’s license
