ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions are duties that are essential or primary to the position or the reason the position exists. An individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  1. Identifies client needs, assists in the development of treatment plans, and gathers information relevant to service needs.

  2. Provides group and individual services to improve coping and daily living skills in an environment that is conducive to recovery efforts.

  3. Provides written documentation of client activity and periodic written updates, as needed, to remain compliant with requirements/standards and to provide documentation for billing of services.

  4. Collaborates with the mental health services team to ensure continuity of care for clients served.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Secondary functions are duties that are not exclusive to the position and can be performed by other positions; however, secondary duties are to be performed for the efficiency of The Counseling Center.

  1. Assists with office tasks when needed.

  2. Attends weekly staff and clinical meetings to participate in problem-solving and address specific client issues.

  3. Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator/Director.

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of alcoholism and chemical dependency.

  2. Demonstrated understanding of clinical practice and performance, including assessment, treatment, and confidentiality.

  3. Ability in the areas of effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  4. Ability to complete all documentation in accordance with agency policy.

  5. Effective time management and organizational skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, INCLUDING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; Behavioral Science degree preferred.

  2. Certification as, or ability to become certified as, a Qualified Mental Health Specialist (QMHS).

  3. Knowledge of alcoholism and other addictions; experience with the 12-Step Recovery Program preferred.

  4. Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability preferred.

  5. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

  6. Completion and maintenance of applicable agency trainings.
