Job Description:

Position Summary

The Senior Tax Analyst will report directly to the Head of US Tax Forecasting and Analysis and will be responsible for all duties related to the preparation of various tax forecasting tasks as detailed below: 

  • Prepare monthly US and Canadian DTA(L) reports in accordance with the Basel III regulatory capital rules
  • Provide commentary with respect to MoM and QoQ flux analysis, key drivers, and differences between actuals and forecast
  • Generate multi-year tax expense forecasts at a segment and legal-entity level on a quarterly basis
  • Produce PowerPoint Presentations for segment tax expense results including forecast-over-forecast and year-over-year flux analysis and key driver commentary
  • Generate multi-year DTA(L) forecasts on a quarterly basis for US and Canadian capital projections
  • Review forecast models on an ongoing basis to identify deficiencies and opportunities for model process improvement
  • Prepare 9 quarter tax expense and DTA(L) forecasts for US Dodd-Frank Act Stress Testing (DFAST) and similar 12 quarter projections for Canadian Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing (EWST)
  • Produce PowerPoint Presentations and supporting materials for DFAST/EWST forecast results to be presented to the Head of US Tax for their sign-off
  • Prepare results narrative for the DFAST Regulatory Capital and Capital Plan Narrative documentation
  • Perform annual review of DFAST tax models in partnership with Model Validation as part of the Annual Model Review (AMR) process
  • Contributes to the strategic direction of the Tax Function by keeping current on emerging issues, industry trends, and/or other relevant accounting changes.
  • Knowledge of OneSource compliance and OneSource Provision software is a plus.
  • High-level proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Excel.
  • Assist the tax department with other duties such as monthly tax provision or compliance as assigned by the Manager.

  • Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
  • 4+ years related experience
  • CPA/MS/MBA (not mandatory)

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Specializes in particular areas according to established policies and procedures and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Provides ongoing, proactive, specialized finance advice and counsel to business partners to ensure they are operating efficiently under applicable accounting rules and regulations
  • Communicates and meets regularly with partners to develop an in-depth understanding of their business and to provide accounting/ taxation insight, knowledge and expertise, such as improving accounting process flows or clarifying income and expense recognition practices 
  • Recognizes, identifies and investigates business accounting issues that need attention, research as needed, offer specialized opinions based on research and knowledge and resolve problems 
  • Responds to accounting-related requests on a timely basis and answers questions as needed. 
  • Provides technical guidance and assist staff with most complex aspects of work as necessary 
  • Resolves escalated issues and problems by conferring with peers, other internal departments, outside contacts and others as necessary 
  • Ensures monthly recording of income, expense and other financial transactions is accurate and timely 
  • Researches and determines proper accounting treatme
