The 24-bed 4800 Surgical Intensive Care (SICU) and Medical Intensive Care (MICU) Units at Akron General provide comprehensive critical medical support to diverse populations from young adult to geriatric patients. As an RN serving these patients, you will ensure they feel comfortable and safe throughout treatment. This position offers you an opportunity to enhance your critical care, trauma and CRRT dialysis knowledge while making a difference in the lives of everyone you meet, every day.
This RN position is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Flex Option 12 program and will require you to work two 12-hour shifts per weekend. This schedule allows caregivers to enjoy personal time during the week with family and friends and take care of any errands that will not interfere with a typical day shift schedule.
A caregiver in this position works weekend days from 7:00AM – 7:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population.
Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
Develop and update goals and involve patients and families in developing plans of care.
Coordinate the interdisciplinary plan of care and serve as a patient advocate.
Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication and document.
Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process.
Delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.
Review and document progress and discharge goals with patients
