Research Assistant
National Bureau of Economic ResearchAbout the role
Research Assistant
Description: I’m looking for a research assistant to work with me on projects related to a grant on norm change, behavioral change, organizational change, and tipping points. The time commitment is between 20 and 30 hours per week. The RA position could be for a short period or up to two years.
Requirements: To apply, you must be a graduate student (Master’s or PhD). Basic programming skills are helpful because you may be asked to help program computer experiments. You should be interested in the topic (see below). If you already have a TA/RA position, you cannot do this work in addition to your current position.
More on the topic: Social tipping points are rapid political, economic, or social shifts. Examples include changing views on gender norms (for instance, related to female labor force participation), affirmative action policies, or corporate social responsibility. We want to learn about how norms and conformity interact with economic behavior. We will use theoretical models and simulations, experiments, and representative surveys. If you would like more background, you can see a paper of mine published in PNAS: https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2014893118.
How to apply: Please submit via the link below your CV, a transcript and a brief description of why you are interested. We can then meet and discuss the project in more detail. You could support an ongoing study or develop questions and new studies. So, the work you will be doing is flexible, and we can define it together.
