Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a TRI - Business Development Manager.  The primary function of this position is to create a portfolio of key product lines to ensure MHC has current competitive alternatives for products and services in the marketplace.  The position is involved in performing duties and tasks of a complex nature requiring initiative, product knowledge, and knowledge of the current market conditions relative to pricing/cost management.  This position is designed to serve as the primary contact (with direction and involvement of the Senior Vice President of Parts and Service Operations) for vendors and suppliers seeking to market new and existing products and services through the MHC network. 

  • The intent of this position is to be proactive in lowering our acquisition costs to keep MHC competitive with market conditions. 
  • Expand the current list of programs /sources and relationships with suppliers on key product lines so as to provide competitive alternatives. Examples include key lines with frequent market fluctuation like oil, batteries, Freon, antifreeze, drums, managing freight costs. 
  • The position will be charged with keeping current profiles on key indices (e.g. petroleum products, metals) and how they might impact pricing on key product lines. 
  • Maintain a current knowledge of best buying practices and direct Corporate Inventory Planners to best buying practices. 
  • Assists in development of new business opportunities including but not limited to brand development, new distribution models, acquisition of new facilities. 
  • Liaison between MHC Parts Managers and Paccar Parts DPM’s /Product Directors in the sales allowance process. 
  • Assist the inventory planners in communications with vendors to help maximize efficiency and accuracy while minimizing costs (freight minimums, truckloads etc.) 
  • Develop Online Reverse Auctions where applicable as directed by supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Previous inventory ordering, forecasting experience preferred.
  • Requires excellent computer skills: proficient in Excel and Word. AS400 experience a plus.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
