Position Summary
The Policy and Civic Engagement (PACE) Intern is responsible for supporting the Senior Policy Manager
in policy research, writing, and event planning. The intern will be responsible for researching and
synthesizing information in policy memos, creating policy and civic engagement trainings, and doing
in-person education and outreach to members of the Latino community in Marin County.
The year-long PACE Intern position offers 8 to 10 hours of paid work per week of paid work during the
fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters and 20 hours per week during the summer of 2024. The position
is based in San Rafael with hybrid flexibility.
Essential Functions
- Research relevant policies and political processes and synthesize that information into
written memos and presentations for staff and community members; - Help articulate the policy and civic engagement team’s work to internal and external
audiences; - Support community leaders with meeting preparation, tech support, outreach and cofacilitation as needed;
- Plan and execute voter outreach activities
- Data entry for activity tracking and grant reporting;
- Other duties related to administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Current college student, third- or fourth-year student preferred, with a major related to
policy and civic engagement; - Available 8 to 10 hours per week during the school year, with the ability to occasionally
adjust schedule to accommodate evening and weekend events; and available 20 hours a
week during summer break; - Have a car or a reliable means of transportation;
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Passion and commitment to social justice;
- Interest in public policy and civic engagement;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Positive and collaborative attitude;
- Effective time management and work organization skills, with a high attention to detail;
- Knowledge of Latino, immigrant, or low-income communities; and
- Experience with Google Drive, spreadsheets, social media platforms, Zoom and data entry
Compensation & Benefits
This is a part-time, non-exempt position that is not eligible for benefits.
- Salary at $26 per hour
Location
This position is hybrid, including a combination of remote work and in-person work at our San Rafael
office and in the Canal community.
