About the role

Join the Worldwide Grocery Real Estate & Store Development (WWGRD) team as a Sr. Construction Manager. We are looking for people who want to join our ambitious and driven team in the pursuit of excellence for industrial project management. You will be part of a team that is developing best-in-class industrial facilities for Amazon and Whole Foods Market, shaping the future of retail industrial spaces! This role will support innovation and expansive growth through cross-functional project oversight.

The Sr. Construction Manager ensures overall construction execution of new ground-up and existing industrial facilities including all-temp distribution centers, fresh food production facilities, bakehouses, and new retail concepts. This position will be responsible for all components of the project life cycle, from feasibility analysis, preconstruction, budgeting, scheduling, critical infrastructure, to onsite construction and closeout. The role monitors finish details, MEP, and shell coordination to ensure work is executed with a high level of craftsmanship, maximizing space for product capacity and providing an excellent experience for end users. Fosters a positive team environment through a culture of accountability and shared fate.

Must have a preconstruction mindset and a professional demeanor, with the ability to communicate effectively with business partners at every level. Must be able to work independently in a collaborative, creative, ever-changing, and ambiguous environment.

Key job responsibilities
- Ensure project quality expectations are achieved from Design Development to Commissioning.
- Organize and monitor concurrent projects with a high level of quality and communication in accordance with deadlines.
- Proactively identify and solutions to mitigate project impacts
- Influence internal and external business partners.
- Problem-solve creatively and negotiate tradeoffs to meet project goals.
- Participate in design development to ensure constructability and cost requirements are met, improving speed to market and simplifying means and methods.
- Ensure scope clarity and field coordination to improve speed to market and cost controls.
- Develop budgets leveraging historical cost data and market conditions to inform feasibility and capital planning.
- Create and maintain milestone schedules tracking critical path activities from preconstruction through closeout.
- Lead value engineering efforts to optimize costs while maintaining design intent and quality standards.
- Evaluate site utilities to identify constraints, lead times, and coordination requirements early in the project lifecycle.
- Demonstrate understanding of construction phasing and sequencing to inform planning and support efficient turnover strategies.
- Provide contractor accountability, cost performance, and schedule management including permitting, OFI equipment, and inspection protocol.
- Establish relationships and understanding of municipalities' entitlement/permit processes.
- Travel to job sites up to 50% of the time.

A day in the life
As a Sr. Construction Manager in industrial growth and development team you drive the execution of large-scale greenfield and browfield projects from concept through completion. Each day balances strategic preconstruction planning budgeting, scheduling, and site evaluation; with active oversight of ongoing builds. The role requires constant collaboration across real estate, design, operations, and external partners to align priorities, resolve challenges, and deliver projects on time and on budget. Success demands an ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and manage complexity across multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

We manage preconstruction, budgeting, construction execution, and closeout, driving speed to market across a rapidly growing national footprint.

Basic Qualifications


- 7+ years of project management, real estate development, architecture/design experience
- Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

- 10+ years of experience in land development, industrial construction, including greenfield ground-up preconstruction and onsite construction.
