Job Description

Seeking full- or part-time graduate or highly qualified undergraduate interns to support software development with researchers in NREL’s Center for Integrated Mobility Sciences. Specific tasks may include:

• Developing reusable and composable data processing workflows for an evolving list of data inputs/outputs.
• Contributing to source code for geospatial analysis, search algorithms, and application development for closed- and open-source projects.
• Supporting geospatial data analysis.
• Collaborating on peer-reviewed papers for submission.

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Undergraduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Undergraduate: Earned a bachelor’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.

Graduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a master’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Graduate: Earned a master’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.
Graduate + PhD: Completed master’s degree and enrolled as PhD student from an accredited institution.

Additional Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated programming experience in Python and/or R.
• Demonstrated experience with database systems
• Experience with concepts and frameworks for high-performance compute environments such as the Linux command line, Slurm, OpenMP, MPI, Apache Spark, and Coroutines.
• Version control experience with systems such as git
