About the role
The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will work to improve outcomes by facilitating access to care and enhancing the quality of life for individuals who are underserved. Operating from a harm reduction approach, the PSS will conduct outreach activities with the goal of becoming a trusted advisor and disseminating information about available resources and services.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and confidentiality
standards. - Complete documentation in alignment with Chemical Dependency Treatment Facility requirements, including service
type, duration, goals, and outcomes. - Maintain timely and accurate electronic records for all peer support activities using a designated system.
- Participate in chart audits and quality assurance reviews and address compliance-related feedback promptly.
- Deliver instruction in-person and via telehealth platforms to ensure accessibility and engagement with a focus on pre and
post-natal women and assisting with maternal health mental health and substance use resources. - Collaborate with clinical staff to support client care conditions.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Proven ability to adhere to ethical guidelines by maintaining professional boundaries and respecting the dignity and autonomy of all clients served.
- Skilled at providing structured peer support services, including recovery planning, transition support, and wellness skill building.
- Ability to apply trauma informed and client centered approaches in all peer interactions.
- Skilled at offering empathetic support through appropriate sharing of personal recovery experiences, fostering hope, and serving as a role model for clients in recovery.
- Ability to guide clients in identifying and accessing community resources, services, and activities that promote recovery and community integration.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Education:
- HS Graduate or Equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in social services, substance use disorder support, or a related field.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Recovery Support Peer Specialist (Upon Hire)
