Topcon is looking to hire a supply chain professional with a strong engineering and quality background, with experience in global supply chain management, manufacturing, sourcing strategy, process improvement and procurement. In this role, you must be knowledgeable in all commodities with an emphasis on PCBAs and cables.
The Supply Chain Manager position will obtain materials, components, packaging and equipment as required by multiple project schedules. They will monitor and report the movement of materials through the development, prototype, pre-production, sustaining and EOL cycles. This position will work with suppliers in the procurement of services and products in a timely and cost-effective manner. The individual will be working in a team (NPI and Sustaining) environment representing the global purchasing organization. The position will create quotations, review bids, assist in contract negotiation, evaluate key existing and new suppliers and identify and track supplier KPIs.
Core Job Duties
- Work as a key member of the cross-functional team to manage the material sourcing and transition of new products from Proto to Mass Production.
- Manage the material plan by identifying critical path, constraints, contingencies, and mitigations to achieve project objectives (cost, quality and delivery).
- Monitor documentation release status and maintain supplier communications during early prototyping phase to ensure the resolution of questioned specifications. Work directly with design engineers and quality when required
- Obtain and review quotes, maintain purchase requisitions and orders for materials and equipment as needed from initial first article inspection (FAI) requirements through pre-production to ensure on-time release.
- Identify gaps in the supply chain (all commodities) globally and take the primary lead for new supplier qualifications by continually assessing market conditions, which may affect procurement and materials management strategy.
- Drive supplier sustainability by collaborating with suppliers who share our vision of environmental and social responsibility and actively striving to minimize their impact.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 8 years experience with NPI activities and relevant Supply Chain Management Activities.
- Minimum of 4 years experience with SAP
- Minimum of 4 years experience with Prodcut Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (ie. Arena, Agile, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
- Well versed in the areas of procurement and sourcing processes including a fundamental understanding in manufacturing and materials planning and all MRP based activities.
- Must be a team player with the ability to work cross-functionally as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Expertise in procurement methods and strong knowledge of quality systems and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills required.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with strong time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task and manage several priorities and small process improvement projects simultaneously.
- Strong ERP system experience, SAP preferred.
- Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Expected Base Pay Range: $125,000 to $150,000 Annualized
