What You'll Do:
The Environmental Specialist role will provide environmental compliance support to the site. The Environmental Specialist will facilitate environmental compliance activities, procedures, and reporting requirements.
What We're Looking For:
- Implement environmental programs, processes and policies
- Lead initiatives in support of the facility’s compliance programs, RC14001 Management System, and facility and corporate goals
- Lead or assist with focused projects such as permit modifications and renewals for RCRA, Title V and NPDES
- Provide classroom RCRA training to facility personnel and update course material as needed
- Provide cross-functional hazardous waste determination support to site departments
- Track and report environmental performance metrics
- Lead or assist in incident investigations
- Participate in internal audits and assist with the development and implementation of corrective actions
- Ensure all regulatory reporting is completed accurately and on time
- Stay current on regulatory requirements
- Develop site specific environmental plans and risk assessments
- Additional duties as assigned.
Skills That Make a Difference:
- Bachelor’s degree in science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry), or engineering (e.g., Chemical, Environmental)
- 2 or more years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (EPA, DOT, OSHA)
- Familiarity with NPDES, SPCC and EPCRA regulations and reporting requirements
- Competent computer skills
- Sound communication skills both written and verbal
Considered a Plus:
- Experience writing or updating facility permits
- Professional certification preferred (e.g., CHMM)
Working Conditions:
- Spends 50% or greater of workday in the field
- Able to climb ladders/stairs be able to lift 50 pounds
- Able to wear PPE including hard hats, hearing protection, respirators, and safety shoes
