Summary

The Senior Process Engineer  will join our Anode Engineering team to help maximize production of our advanced silicon anode and develop next generation technologies to enable mass production of our suite of products. 

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in production environments, particularly on sustaining activities to ensure manufactured products match the target specification, as well as research or industry experience working on PVD, CVD, PECVD deposition technologies. This role will report to the Chief Scientist of Silicon Anode Process.

Job Responsibilities

  • Central role in physical vapor deposition (PVD) process development and manufacturing for lithium deposition on silicon nanowire anode.
  • Responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and improving thermal evaporation processes for lithium metal deposition on silicon nanowire anode.
  • Responsible for the specification and documentation of procedures for PVD process equipment.
  • Interface with capital equipment vendors to support existing and develop new tools.
  • Responsible for critical inputs to manufacturing scaling costs.
  • Work with maintenance and equipment engineering to maximize system uptime and throughput.
  • Supervisory responsibilities: Mentor Train and supervise lab technicians as required.

Requirements

  • BS (advanced degree preferred) in Mat. Sci., Chemistry, Chem E., Mech E., or EE.
  • 3+ years in industrial R&D and/or production environment using PVD, CVD, and/or PECVD equipment.
  • Expertise and experience in vacuum coating processes, especially thermal evaporation deposition processes.
  • Experience in materials characterization techniques, including SEM, EDX, XRD, FTIR.
  • In-depth understanding of composition-process-structure-property relationships of coatings prepared by various deposition technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in employing design of experiment (DOE) methods for process development and optimization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using statistical process control (SPC) for production processes.
  • Strong work ethic, highly accountable, and able to take ownership of critical projects and functions.
  • Committed to environmental, health and safety requirements.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • On-site - Fremont, CA
  • Office environment with prolonged sitting and working on a computer and/or working in a laboratory environment.
  • Lift and move items up to 20 pounds
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, respirator and safety shoes

Benefits

  • Comprehensive compensation package includes base salary + generous RSUs. Salary range for this role is $93,000 to $153,000. Base salary will be determined based on knowledge, experience, and education.
