Location: Greater Boston Region (Travel to China required a few times annually)
Company Stage: Seed-stage biotech specializing in mRNA-based therapies with teams in both Boston, USA, and Guangdong, China.

Our trans-Pacific biotech startup is breaking new ground in targeted mRNA delivery technology. As we enter a critical stage of growth, we’re seeking an experienced and visionary CEO to lead the charge.

Job Description

This is more than just a leadership role—it’s an opportunity to steer innovation on a global stage. As CEO, you’ll drive strategy, bridge cultural and operational gaps between our U.S. and China teams, and spearhead the next phase of our mRNA platform’s development. From aligning R&D milestones to building investor trust, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to deliver breakthrough therapies.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Strategically: Shape and execute a bold vision for advancing our mRNA delivery platform.
• Fundraise Effectively: Build relationships with U.S. and global investors to secure critical resources for growth.
• Collaborate Globally: Unite and inspire our cross-regional teams, fostering seamless communication across time zones and cultures.
• Drive Science Forward: Partner with R&D teams to achieve technical milestones and regulatory readiness.
• Build Partnerships: Develop collaborations with research institutions and biopharma partners to accelerate commercialization.
• Ensure Compliance: Guide teams to meet regulatory standards in both U.S. and global markets.
• Grow the Team: Cultivate a diverse, high-performing team with a shared passion for innovation.
• Stay Ahead: Monitor industry trends and keep our platform competitive on the global stage.

Qualifications

What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, or related field (MSc or higher). MBA or similar business credentials are a plus.
• 10+ years of leadership in biotech, with a focus on RNA therapeutics or delivery platforms.
• Proven fundraising success and strong relationships with investors, particularly in early-stage biotech.
• Experience leading cross-functional, cross-regional teams with a good understanding of mRNA regulatory requirements.
• Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment, with a genuine passion for innovation, learning, and exploring new ideas.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Mandarin or significant experience working in U.S.-East Asia cross-cultural settings.
• Extensive network with U.S. and global investors and an established ability to attract international funding.
• Demonstrated success guiding a biotech company from seed-stage to key inflection points (e.g., preclinical to clinical development).
• Strong industry connections within biotech, pharma, and the investor community worldwide.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a talent for navigating complex, multicultural business environments.

The Process:

• First Round: Introductory conversations with BD, Ops, and Talent Acquisition.
• Second Round: In-depth discussions with CTO, Ops, director leadership team, and cross-regional stakeholders.
• Final Round: Meetings with board members, HR, & other key stakeholders
