About the role

 

Position Description

 

The National Networks Local Connections Programme (NN,LCP) has been established to deliver the capabilities needed in ESB Networks (people, processes, and systems) to change how the electricity distribution system is developed and managed.

 

The Product Strategy team in the NN,LCP is responsible for developing flexibility and decarbonisation products along with the technical and business strategy to assure integrity of the whole active system management solution;

 

The Senior Specialist position in the Product Strategy workstream is key in the delivery of the NN,LC Programme, reporting to the OSP manager.

Senior Specialists working on propositions will be responsible for end-to-end flexibility product development.

 

We are seeking senior specialists, knowledgeable in the subject matter who will leverage their deep experience to drive the development and implementation of innovative solutions aimed at accelerating electricity decarbonisation efforts. In a product development role, you will play a pivotal role in leading cross-functional teams, managing product lifecycles, and ensuring the successful delivery of initiatives aligned with our organization's decarbonisation goals.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for electricity decarbonisation initiatives, considering market trends, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
  • Product Development: Lead and manage cross-functional teams to execute product development projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, industry partners, and customers, to gather insights, gather feedback, and drive collaboration towards shared decarbonisation goals.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks throughout the product lifecycle, proactively addressing issues that may impact project delivery or outcomes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of decarbonisation initiatives, regularly monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement, fostering innovation and efficiency in product delivery processes and methodologies.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in electricity decarbonisation, maintaining a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
  • Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management, communicating progress, challenges, and opportunities related to product delivery and decarbonisation efforts.

 

 

Experience and Qualifications 

 

Essential

 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 7- 10 years relevant experience
  • Proven experience in product management, project management, or related roles, with a track record of successfully delivering complex initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of electricity systems, decarbonisation technologies, and energy policy landscape.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, product development processes, and project management tools.
  • Passion for sustainability, renewable energy, and driving positive impact through innovation.

 

 

Location

 

Flexible. There may be a requirement to attend regular meetings with stakeholders who are primarily Dublin based.

 

 

General

 

It is not anticipated that a staff member still on probation will be eligible to apply for a promotional vacancy.

 

Typically, an individual must have completed their probation and should have at least two years’ experience in their current role before being eligible to apply for a promotion.

 

An application from a staff member who does not meet the above criteria must have the approval of both the senior line manager and the HRM within the BU before progressing to application.

 

Note: For staff currently on non-monthly pay frequency, any promotion to Bands 5 and above will result in a change in pay frequency to monthly.
