Our valuesImpact: Cogniters strive to make an impact in all that they do. We are result-oriented, always asking ourselves.Ownership: Cogniters embrace a culture of ownership. We go beyond our comfort zones to contribute to the greater good, fostering inclusivity and sharing responsibilities for challenges and success. Relentless: Cogniters are relentless in their pursuit of innovation. We are determined and deliverable (never ruthless or reckless), facing challenges head-on and viewing setbacks as opportunities for growth.

A typical day as a Cogniter will contain the following tasks & responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end mission and capacity of your team (6-10 engineers), executing on applications and services that operate at global industrial scale. Continuously refine the team's structure, tooling, and processes to optimize throughput and technical agility.
  • Drive operational excellence and serve as the technical authority for your domain. Ensure all engineering artifacts meet the highest internal bar for quality and maintainability, ensuring system architecture and operational decisions maximize throughput while driving cost efficiency and managing cloud expenditure.
  • Lead team-level architecture and strategic direction. Drive architectural trade-offs (short-term impact vs. long-term quality/debt) that directly impact the platform's scalability and reliability.
  • Guaranteeing predictable delivery while proactively mitigating technical risk and debt. Act as the primary point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders, using a candid, solution-oriented approach to resolve high-stakes dependencies.
  • Coach engineers on their development. Actively model and enforce a culture of radical candor and high-performance accountability. Dedicate time to identifying and mentoring successor talent within the team.
  • Ensure the team's engineering outcomes are directly traceable to customer value and company revenue drivers by owning the feedback loop from production data to product execution.

Required Experience & Leadership Profile

  • People Leadership: 5+ years of direct people management experience is strongly preferred. You have a proven history of coaching engineers and/or scaling complex engineering teams through periods of change and ambiguity.
  • Strategic Background: You possess experience from a high-bar engineering culture (e.g., top-tier B2B SaaS, hyper-scaler, or leading platform company) with a track record of driving change in a complex, multi-product environment.
  • Technical Depth: Deep expertise in building and operating fault-tolerant, low-latency, high-volume data processing systems at exabyte scale (P99 reliability). You understand the cost-to-serve implications of architectural decisions.
  • Architectural Versatility & Innovation: Demonstrated experience designing, launching, and managing strategic architectural pivots (e.g., shift from monolithic to composable systems). You are a builder of platforms, not just applications.
  • Stakeholder management: You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, adept at aligning executives and external partners with organizational objectives, including interactions with senior leadership..

  • Highly Desired
  • Frontend Platform Leadership: Experience designing, launching, or managing application development frameworks, UI component libraries, or design systems.
  • AI/ML Integration: Practical experience integrating AI models, agents, or advanced analytics directly into platform services or user workflows (e.g., supporting context transfer or intelligent decision-making).
  • Strategic Ambiguity Management: You possess the executive maturity to lead teams and define direction through significant ambiguity and strategic pivots (L4/Director requirement), translating unclear objectives into concrete execution plans.<
