About the role

Plans, directs, and implements the plant safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. Designated ISO 45001 Safety Management Representative. Responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations. Supports plant specific safety KPIs including documentation and reporting out of status and correction actions for missed targets.

Key responsibilities

Safety and Health

  • Creates monthly safety training.
  • Identifies, reports, and corrects unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Collaborates to implement timely corrective actions.
  • Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory safety requirements.

Quality

  • Ensures understanding in achieving, maintaining, and improving product quality.
  • Reinforces customer requirements and risks associated with non-conforming product.
  • Reviews quality documentation to ensure adherence to established standards.

Safety

  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Supports and complies with ISO 45001 requirements for facility as the lead auditor. Must be a qualified auditor.
  • Supports the established, implemented, and maintenance of the safety management system in accordance with ISO 14001.
  • Supports and participates in environmental and safety compliance and audits.
  • Supports plant safety KPIs through yearly initiatives, documentation, and corrective actions.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Promotes and ensures compliance in the use of safety equipment.
  • Develops and monitors emergency action plans. Investigates accidents and follow up on accident reports. Recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents and illnesses.
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Participates in developing hazardous waste rules and regulations to protect people and the environment.
  • Assists in the completion of required environmental compliance and reporting.
  • Participates in developing spill reporting regulations and environmental damage assessment programs.
  • Provides assistance in the event of a hazardous chemical spill and identifies pollutant, determines hazardous impact, and recommends corrective action.
