Job Overview 

Davies Captive Management is looking for a Staff Accountant to support the account management staff in a range of general accounting functions in the management of a portfolio of captive insurance companies.   Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will be supporting the preparation of financial statements as well preparing statements, independently, for less complex accounts.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need to have superior time management skills with capability of working with and meeting deadlines, and able to work independently.  You must be PC literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, be detail oriented and organized, and able to work on multiple accounts at one time.  Additionally, you will need to be capable to taking instruction, have excellent communication skills, and exceptional capability to multi-task and prioritize with impeccable documentation skills in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. This is a full-time, hybrid role that requires you to be in the office 2 days a week and work from your home in Williston, Vermont 3 days a week.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform monthly bank and cash reconciliations
  • Assist in monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Maintain client files and financial records
  • Run month or quarter end reports as requested
  • Make month or quarter end journal entries
  • Support Accounting Manager with financial statement preparation; some independent preparation on less complex accounts
  • Assist Accounting Manager with regulatory correspondence and compliance
  • Correspond and interact with client and related service providers
  • Assist in arrangement of Board of Directors and Annual General Meetings as required
  • Ensure Accounting Manager, Account Manager and/or Senior Account Manager are copied on all relevant correspondence
  • Aid company by adhering to and maintaining standards in accordance with ISMS policy and procedure

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • PC literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Must be able to work on multiple accounts at one time
  • Must be able to take instruction
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Ability to work successfully in deadline driven environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

 

Preferred

  • Associate degree in accounting and/or relevant experience
